Themes and Series

For the last few years I’ve been working with the notion of memory. The samples are from different series I produced, each with a typical run of six final prints in each group. The series attempt to capture the notion of time using old location photos of places I’ve known, or reinterpreting graphics images I created long ago—tracing a track to the past. With "Traces" I returned to working with shape and form, reworking an old design I rediscovered in my files. For the series, "Up close and personal," I used and manipulated news images to remember and recast events that continue to escape us in newsprint. "I was there" and "Take another look" are both series that use more location photos to catch a whiff of a time gone by. The photographs used in "Take another look" were taken by Kim Steinbacher.
