Photo Transfers and the monotype

For the last few years I have used photo transfers as another marking adding a more accessible context to the monotype. The photo image is typically first manipulated in Photoshop then transferred to paper (using a process similar to photo lithography). The transfer becomes another graphic element. "Lineage," is a series I completed in 2001 where I used family photos, both my own and photos selected by friends of mine, to develop images that could inform women’s sense of lineage and personal history. The final product was to tell a story that could speak to both the original source and to one’s own sense of history. The “Betty” prints are samples from a portrait series I made to pay homage to a very dear friend of mine, Betty Johnson, who died January 28, 2002. Using only a few photos I had, I wanted to capture the essence of Betty through color and tone and her spirit as it spoke to me. To see more of these prints and/or to get prices on framed and unframed pieces, please contact me through email.
