Older Prints

This selection of monotypes is part of a larger group of images I produced early on in my printmaking years. The monotype is a unique work of art on paper made by drawing and painting directly on an unmarked surface. The typical monotype is created in one pass through the press. Only a single print can be produced (in some cases, a ghost impression can be used in a second printing). In my case, I work on a Plexiglas plate using oil-base printing inks along with other materials (e.g., oil sticks, fabrics, papers) to build up the image. I repeat this process, reprinting often three to four times before achieving a final print. Each time I rework the surface, adding markings and materials, texturing the plate and shifting patterns to add depth and create the illusion of movement. The monotype process matches well the themes explored in "art inside the cracks," with the final print exposing what lie beneath, revealing the layers, and redefining the image through repetition. To see more of these prints and/or to get prices on framed and unframed pieces, please contact me through email.
